I'll never forget wiping the spittle off my face.

 

An irate mom had just expressed her disappointment in my treatment of her son. I had benched the star of soccer team I coached for the final 15 minutes of the game, and a significant lead -- and certain win -- had vaporized.

 

The team lost because of my coaching decision.

 

Of course, star or not, no six-year-old who questioned my tactics with the language of a sailor was going to do anything but ride the pine. Mom didn't believe that her son would have behaved that way, that I was "out to get him."

Launching North Valley Varsity

 

Welcome to my version of March Madness.

Anyone who follows high school sports closely knows that Spring season is the most hectic of all. These may not be the sports that draw the biggest crowds or draw the most attention, but it truly is the season with the most going on.

It may not be the most ideal time to launch a high school sports website. Then again, if it can be done in the spring, fall and winter won't seem so crazy.
